IN ANAEROBIC MACRO ORGANISMS TINIDAZLOE IS CONVERTED TO ACTIVE FORM BY REDUCTION OF ITS NITRO GROUP : THIS GETS BOUND TO DNA AND PREVENTS NUCLETIC ACID FORMATION. IT HAS BEEN USED FOR TRICHOMONIASIS, AMOEBIASIS AND GLARDIASIS. TINIDAZOLE IS ACTIVE AGAINST A WIDE RANGE OF BACTERIA INCLUDING BACTEROIDES SPP, ANAEROBIC COCCI, FUSOBACTERIUM SPP, CLOSTRIDIUM SPP.
