HEMOLOK ( FERACRYLUM )
HEMOLOK is an aqueous of the Iron Salt of Poly Acrylic
Acid (Feracrylum) in the concentration of 1% having the
following properties:
- Haemostatic
- Antibacterial
- Hygroscopic
HEMOLOK underwent pre-clinical and clinical studies in
India and was then released by Drugs Controller General
(India), Health Ministry, New Delhi for manufacturing
and marketing in India.
HEMOLOK is a self destructive, bio-degradable polymer,
compatible with the human body, which on application
exerts haemostatic, antibacterial and hygroscopic
actions, degrades and decomposes in the body and gets
excreted without causing any toxicity or leaving any
toxic remnants in the body.
HEMOLOK upon intra and post operative applications
reacts with the blood albumin to form an insoluble white
polycomplex (adduct), thus stops capillary and venules
oozing.
HEMOLOK displays anti-microbial activity against Gram
+ve, Gram -ve bacteria and Fungi known to cause
post-operative sepsis.
The bactericidal activity of HEMOLOK compared with
Povidone Iodine in vitro suggests that HEMOLOK displayed
bactericidal activity even at lower concentrations as
compared with Povidone Iodine. Further HEMOLOK is
non-staining, odourless and has non-allergenic
properties.
HEMOLOK (1 % Feracrylum solution) has a molecular weight
of more than 100,000 daltons and therefore does not
enter capillaries and thus negates the possibility of
intra-vascular thrombosis.
HEMOLOK has been extensively used in more than 300,000
patients, without any incidence of adverse reactions,
including local irritation / foreign body reactions.
HEMOLOK is available as :
HEMOLOK (1 % Feracrylum Solution)
HEMOLOK (1 % Feracrylum Gel)
HEMOLOK (1 % & 3 % Feracrylum Spray)
USAGE :
HEMOLOK (1 % Feracrylum Solution) can be used with
advantage for -
Intra operative local application to prevent
capillary oozing.
Post operative application (irrigation) to reduce
drainage collection.
Irrigation of burn sites.
HEMOLOK (1 % Feracrylum Gel)
In Post operative wound care.
For external wound injury.
Dressing of diabetic foot ulcers.
In hemmorroids (under clinical evaluation).
HEMOLOK (1 % Feracrylum Spray)
For emergency wound care, for non-voluntary
external injury.
In inflicted wounds.
OPD dressing of the wounds.
Ready to use spray in surgery.
