Isopropamide Iodide
A white to pale yellow crystalline powder. Isopropamide io-
dide 1.36mg is approximately equivalent to I mg of iso-
propamide. Soluble I in 50 of water. I in 10 of alcohol, and
I in 5 of chloroform: very slightly soluble in ether. Protect
from light.
Isopropamide iodide is a quaternary ammonium antimus-
carinic with peripheral effects similar to those of atropine.
It has been used as an adjunct in the treatment of pep-
tic ulcer disease, in the relief of gastro-intestinal and urinary
tract disorders associated with smooth muscle spasm, in rhin-
itis, and for the relief of symptoms of colds.
Isopropamide bromide has been used similarly.
