L-Valine
White or almost white, odourless crystalline powder or col-
ourless crystals. Soluble in water: very slightly soluble or
practically insoluble in alcohol; practically insoluble in ace-
tone. and in ether. A 5% solution in water has a pH of 5.5 to
7.0. Protect from light.
Valine is a branched-chain amino acid which is an essential
constituent of the diet. It is used as a dietary supplement. It
is also an ingredient of several preparations that have been pro-
moted for disorders of the liver.
