Magaldrate
A combination of aluminium and magnesium hydroxides and
sulphates. A white or almost white odourless
crystalline powder. Practically insoluble in water and alco-
hol: soluble in dilute mineral acids. It loses between 10 and
20% of its weight on drying at 200Β° for 4 hours.
Magaldrate is an antacid that is given in doses of
up to about 2 g by mouth. Aluminium magnesium hydroxide
has also been used.
