Kaolin; Paregoric; Pectin
Indications: Diarrhea
CLINICAL PHARMACOLOGY:
The kaolin adsorbs irritants and forms a protective coating on intestinal mucosa. Kaolin enhances stool formation; however, total water loss may be unchanged. Pectin acts to consolidate the stool. Paregoric is very useful in diarrhea because it has a soothing action and allays discomfort of intestinal grippe.
ADVANTAGES
Kaolin-Pectin w/ Paregoric contains paregoric (equivalent), and effectively controls both diarrhea and colicky cramps. It is prepared as a stable suspension with a pleasant taste for oral administration.
INDICATIONS AND USAGE:
For symptomatic relief of diarrhea.
CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Paregoric should not be used to treat diarrhea caused by poisons, toxins, or infectious agents until the gastrointestinal tract has been cleared of the causative agent.
WARNINGS:
As with any drug, if you are pregnant or nursing a baby, seek the advice of a health professional before using this product. In case of accidental overdose, seek professional assistance or contact a poison control center immediately.
Diarrhea may be serious. Do not use for more than 2 days or in the presence of high fever or in infants or children under 3 years of age unless directed by physician.
