Propyphenazone
A white or slightly yellowish crystalline powder. Slightly sol-
uble in water: freely soluble in alcohol and in dichlorometh-
ane; soluble in ether. Protect from light.
Propyphenazone, a pyrazolone derivative related to phena-
zone , has analgesic and antipyretic properties. It has
been given by mouth and as a rectal suppository in the treat-
ment of pain and fever. There have been some reports of se-
vere hypersensitivity reactions in patients receiving
propyphenazone.
Porphyria : Propyphenazone has been associated with clini-
cal exacerbations of porphyria and is considered unsafe in
porphyric patients.
